Pääsuküla is the name of our family cottage that has been used as a gathering place by 4 generation of Estonian-Canadians in Ontario. The name Pääsuküla was given to our cottage by our grandmother, Pille, loosely combining the words "Pääsuke" meaning swallow, the Estonian national bird, and "Küla" meaning village. It has been a special place to celebrate our Estonian heritage with cousins gathered around the fire, making flower crowns, eating traditional foods and learning from our ancestors.
Käsitöö + Kantiin translates to handicrafts and canteen. We aim to gather a unique selection of Estonian inspired wares and consumables to continue the special traditions and appreciation of cultural goods we grew up with.
